(1)–(2) As I said to the
press yesterday, that headline surprised me. It needs to be put into context.
Several members interjected.
Mr
D.C. NALDER : If members opposite want to listen to the transcript, I can
provide the transcript of the interview. The interview was about the survey. It
was in reference to priority bus lanes. I was asked whether the Department of Transport
or I, as minister, would consider carpooling into bus lanes. I said it is a
discussion I have had with the department. It is something that we would like
to consider but we need to discuss it further. We then went on to discuss one
priority bus access lane that I was aware of off the top of my head, which is
on South Street in Bull Creek. I had further discussions with the department on
Monday morning about this very issue. It is a long way along the line of
considering a trial of motorbikes going down that bus expressway. I asked
whether the department could consider it. I am waiting for a response to
whether we can consider a carpooling trial given that there is a bus expressway
on South Street in Bull Creek. I await further advice from the department.
