With regard to the proposed levee in the McNeill Clay pan area near Carnarvon, I ask —
(1) Has the Minister received a letter from Mr Les George highlighting various deficiencies in the levee alignment?
(2) If yes to (1), what action does the Minister intend to take in respect to the issues outlined in the letter?
(3) If yes to (1), will the Minister carry out a formal assessment of the proposed levee, in light of the information provided by Mr Les George?
(4) If no to (3), why not?

The Minister for Environment has provided the following response.
(1) Yes
(2) The matters raised by Mr George have been referred to the Department of Water, the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority and the Department of Environment and Conservation.
(3) No
(4) The Minister for Environment has received advice that the areas of primary concern in the McNeil Claypan area will not be detrimentally impacted by the proposed flood mitigation works and as such the proposed works are not significant as to warrant formal environmental impact assessment.
