I refer to the proposed metropolitan
region scheme amendment to enable the construction of an Ocean Reef marina.
(1) When does the
Minister for Planning expect the MRS amendment will be advertised?
(2) What is the
purpose of progressing the MRS amendment prior to a decision being reached on
the government's involvement in the development of the marina?

(1) The
metropolitan region scheme amendment and the associated public environmental
review by the Environmental Protection Authority for the waterways component of
the proposal are anticipated to be concurrently advertised towards the end of
2016.
(2) In April
2014, the Western Australian Planning Commission initiated the amendment in
accordance with a request from the City of Joondalup. The government will give
further consideration to the project as the required statutory processes
progress.
