I refer to the practice of referring minors to access medical or psychological gender affirming care, and I ask: (a) what qualifications are required for individuals and organisations to be authorised to make such referrals; (b) are there mandatory training, accreditation, or endorsement requirements; and (c) are such authorisations time-limited and required to be periodically renewed, or do they remain valid until revoked, and if periodic renewal is required, how often?

(a) The Child and Adolescent Health Service’s (CAHS) Gender Diversity Service accepts referrals for gender affirming care from General Practitioners, Paediatricians, Endocrinologists, Psychiatrists, School Psychologists, Private Psychologists, and public youth mental health service clinicians.
(b-c) CAHS cannot comment on the training requirements of the referring clinical specialities. Accreditation is the responsibility of AHPRA.
