representing the Premier:
I refer to the water park at
Elizabeth Quay and the answer to question 265 yesterday.
(1) Who were the
staff members in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Premier's
Office advised of the water quality concerns on —
(a) 28 January;
and
(b) 29 January?
(2) Was the
Premier notified of these concerns on either 28 or 29 January prior to the 4.00
pm opening event?
(3) What action did each individual
staff member and/or the Premier take?
(4) Was not
opening the water park at 4.00 pm on 29 January ever considered by the
Department of the Premier and Cabinet, which had the oversight role for the
opening activities?

Richard May, Deputy Director General, Department of the Premier and Cabinet and
Mr Willie Rowe, Chief of Staff, Office of the Premier.
(b) Mr Damien
Carbon, Senior Media adviser, Office of the Premier.
(2) The Premier
was advised that there were some issues and the Department of the Premier and
Cabinet was monitoring them.
(3) Mr May asked
the Minister for Planning's office to keep him informed of any
developments. Mr Rowe asked Mr May to keep him informed.
(4) The opening
of the water park was one of four elements of the official opening events for
Elizabeth Quay being coordinated by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.
The Department of Health advised the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority,
which advised the Minister for Planning's office, that the water park
opening could proceed and this advice was passed on to Mr May from the
Department of the Premier and Cabinet, who subsequently advised the Premier's
office.
