(a) how many incidents of assault have been reported by staff in:
(i) 2009–2010; and
(ii) March 2009 to date;
(b) please list the relevant department or agency, date of assault, male/female victim, male/female perpetrator;
(c) how many incidents of assault were reported to Western Australia Police; and
(d) how many convictions resulted from reported assaults?

The Office of Road Safety
(a-d) The Office of Road Safety is administratively supported as part of Main Roads WA and as such the response will be included in the MRWA response under the Minister for Transport.
The Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia -
(a)    (i)-(ii) One
(b)   Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia; One incident on 27 October 2009 which involved three male victims and two male perpetrators.
(c)    One
(d)   Nil
Western Australia Police -
(a)(i) Between January 1
st
2009 and December 13th 2010 there were 2,097 assaults against Police Officers and 4 assaults against Police Staff recorded.
(ii) Between March 1
st
2009 and December 13th 2010 there were 1,798 assaults against Police Officers and 3 assaults against Police Staff recorded.
(b) Summary details of recorded assaults against Police Officers and Police Staff are listed in Appendix I, attached.
(c) All recorded assaults against Police Officers were reported to Police. The number of assaults against Police Officers that were not recorded as offences (due to minor nature, time constraints, etc.) is unknown.
(d) WA Police cannot provide the number of convictions as a result of assaults, as the records are not related in the different recording systems.
