BUNBURY TO ALBANY NATURAL GAS PIPELINE
I refer to the Liberal Party’s election commitment to construct a natural gas pipeline from Bunbury to Albany. (1) Is it a priority of the government to build this pipeline in its first term? (2) Has Treasury costed the construction of the pipeline? (3) If yes to (2), what is the expected cost to government? (4) Will the proposed route of the pipeline be open for public consultation? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(4) Planning for the Bunbury to Albany natural gas pipeline, including the determination of cost, is expected to commence over coming months. The initial focus will be on establishing the corridor in consultation with private landowners and other affected parties and acquiring land and requisite approvals. It is premature to establish a finite time line until this planning phase is completed.
