I refer to letter of the Joint Standing Committee on the Corruption and Crime Commission to the Attorney General, dated 23 September 2013, seeking the Attorney General's comment on the recommendations contained in the Committee's report Surveillance and Accountability: A Gap in the Oversight Umbrella? , tabled in Parliament on 8 November 2012, and follow up letters, dated 12 March 2014 and 1 August 2014, seeking a response from the Minister, and I ask when can the Committee expect to receive the Minister's response?

I personally raised the matters outlined in the Committee's letter dated 23 September 2013 with Commonwealth Attorney-General Brandis in December of that year. The Member will note that the Committee's letter did not request a response.
A comprehensive search by my staff has failed to locate copies of correspondence referred to by the Member dated 12 March 2014 and 1 August 2014. My office has now been supplied with electronic copies of these documents, and a response to the Committee will be provided shortly.
