JUDICIAL COMMISSION
841. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Attorney General:
I refer the Attorney General to his confirmation, in The
West Australian , if not in Parliament, of the government's
long-delayed plan, first announced in 2022, to establish a judicial commission,
which I welcome.
(1) Has drafting begun on the bill to establish such a commission?
(2) If yes to (1), when will it be established; and, if no to
(1), when is it expected to commence?
(3) With whom
has the government consulted on its draft legislation, and what further
consultations, if any, are planned?
(4) Can the
Attorney General give Parliament a commitment that the necessary legislation
will be debated in both houses prior to the 2025 state election?

cabinet-in-confidence.

will be introduced into the WA Parliament as soon as practicable.
