ABB AUSTRALIA LTD — WESTERN POWER CONTRACT
1201. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the Leader of
the House representing the Minister for Energy:
I refer to the tender process for
the transformer contract with Western Power, previously held by ABB.
(1) How many bids were received in
the tender process and what is the name or names of the winning bids?
(2) Will the minister release a summary
of the bids, with the amounts in each case; and, if not, why not?
(3) Will the
transformers to be manufactured under the new contract be of the same
specifications as per the previous contract; and, if not, what are the changes?
(4) What was the
annual cost of the contract for each of the previous five years and how many
transformers were supplied under the contract for each year?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Western Power
received eight vendor responses. The final contracts are yet to be finalised.
The names of the winning bids will be released upon contract finalisation.
(2) That
information is commercially sensitive. Any release would see Western Power
breach its confidentiality obligations to market participants and further
compromise Western PowerXXX ###XXXs commercial trade.
(3) Transformers
under the new contract will be manufactured to Western PowerXXX ###XXXs
requirements, and will meet the latest Australian standards.
(4) See part (2).
