(b) how many rail trips have been taken under the Free Rail Authority in 2009, 2010 and 2011; and
(c) what is the total cost to the State of providing this Free Rail Authority in 2009, 2010 and 2011?

The Public Transport Authority advises:
(a) The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is not able to provide the exact number of people who are currently in possession of the Retired Employee Free Rail Authority as records kept for this purpose by another entity have been deemed to be inaccurate. The PTA is now keeping its own records with respect to this matter and can confirm that since 1 May 2011, 2359 passes have been issued or renewed for retired employees and their spouses.
(b) Transperth System
The Retired Employee Free Rail Travel Authority is a "flash pass" and details of free travel are not recorded.
Transwa System - Rail only.
2009 - 407 trips.
2010 - 412 trips.
2011 - 420 trips.
(c) Transperth System
The details of free travel are not recorded.
Transwa System - Rail only
The equivalent fare value of Transwa trips taken were
2009 - $17,479.90.
2010 - $16,603.87.
2011 - $18,229.04.
