SOCIAL HOUSING —
2020–21 STATE BUDGET
1116. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
I
note the more than 23 000 people on the public housing wait list, representing
about 14 000 households, the record low vacancy rate for private rentals
and the substantive calls across the country, industry and business for
increased investment in social housing.
(1) Why did the McGowan government not commit further
funding for immediate social housing construction in the 2020–21
state budget, beyond what has previously been announced?
(2) Will this
government reconsider its limited investment in new social housing and commit
to further construction of social housing homes?
