CORONAVIRUS —
YOUNG PEOPLE IN CARE
819. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to question without notice
676 in which it was stated that young people in care turning 18 years of age
during the COVID-19 period would be able to remain at their current placement
if the following two criteria were met: the young person consented; and the
capacity and willingness of the carer.
(1) When both of
the aforementioned criteria have been met, has the department been providing
the carer with the identical quantum of payments that the carer was receiving
prior to the young person turning 18?
(2) If no to (1),
is this because the second criterion relating to the carer's capacity
is being interpreted by the department as the carer's capacity to
personally self-fund the placement?
(3) If no to (2), why is the quantum
of payments not identical?
