I thank the member for the question. I am pleased to inform the house that this morning Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard and I jointly opened the new Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training in Henderson, and also the new printing, jewellery and creative industries building at Central TAFE in Northbridge. These facilities will enable more people to be trained to take advantage of job opportunities in Western Australia in the important energy industries of oil and gas, and also in some of the burgeoning creative industries. Those facilities were jointly funded by the state and commonwealth governments. In addition, the federal government’s productivity places program was launched, which will provide 1 000 new training placements to upskill existing workers. This program will ensure that people already in the workforce who want to obtain an enhanced qualification can undertake a traineeship to the certificate IV diploma and advanced diploma levels. The state government will work cooperatively and productively with the commonwealth to ensure that Western Australians can take advantage of the state’s booming economy.
