(a)-(j)   The initial proposal for upgrades to Claremont Station being completed as part of the Airport Line project included a fully-accessible new overpass with lifts and stairs.
However, it became clear during consultation that the Town of Claremont as a key stakeholder were opposed to this proposal, citing various concerns which were primarily the disruption of existing connections and impacts to the heritage status of the status. In addition, concerns were raised by the State Design Review Panel and that included representation from the State Heritage Office.
To compensate for the removal of the pedestrian crossing to the west of the station, an underpass was built following consultation with representatives from the local community through the Community Advisory Group that included a range of community members as well as the Town of Claremont.
The station was upgraded to be compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 in 2021 . The development and installation of an overpass will be a longer-term consideration for the station.
