METRONET — COSTS
224. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question. Is
the minister's dual role as both Minister for Transport and Treasurer a
conflict of interest that is contributing to these cost blowouts?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please!

The
answer to that is no, but just to expand on that, when there was a Minister for
Energy who was also the Treasurer , did members opposite ask the
question?
Several members interjected.
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : Yes, he had a lot of other part-time
activities, too—let us face it! He had a lot of conflicts in not only
his actual day-to-day jobs, but also his other activities, too. Did members
opposite raise that in their joint party room?
Ms L. Mettam interjected.
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : What? Members
opposite oppose it. Members opposite broke election commitments, they were a disgrace
and people threw them out. They could not wait to throw them out.
Ms L. Mettam interjected.
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : Look at Miss Negative!
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Vasse!
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : Not really? I
heard that they are already doing some polling out there, just to see how she
is going! They are doing a bit of polling.
Mr J.N. Carey : Looking at the
Liberal constitution!
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : They are
going through the fine print.
Mr J.N. Carey interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Perth!
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : They are
going through the constitution.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Minister and
members, that concludes question time.
