(a) & (b) 77 properties with a total area of 5.0250ha have been purchased by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), or the Commissioner of Main Roads (MRWA) as detailed in the attached Schedule [see tabled Paper No.]. Lands held in the name of the State of WA are controlled by MRWA.
(c) WAPC manages all its own properties in-house. MRWA owned or controlled vacant lands are managed by Main Roads with the residential/commercial properties managed by an external property manager, Perth Management Services.
(d) These properties are required for Primary Regional Road - Canning Highway under the Metropolitan Region Scheme. Surplus land following the road widening will be disposed of as appropriate for redevelopment.
(e) The review of the reservation was initiated several years ago but placed in abeyance pending clearer definition of Network City objectives which designated Canning Highway as an activity corridor. No timeframe has been set to finalise the review of this section of Canning Highway.
(f) The WAPC is the responsible authority under the Planning and Development Act for the Metropolitan Region Scheme and remains responsible for compensating landowners whose properties are reserved. The WAPC in most instances purchases in response to owner requests.
