With regard to the rebate on Payroll Tax outlined on page 52 of the 2009–2010 State Budget, and based on the modelling and estimations undertaken by the Department of Treasury and Finance, and by the Treasury Corporation:
(a) what number of employers has the Minister estimated will be eligible for the payroll tax rebate in 2009–2010; and
(b) what cumulative financial assistance is estimated to be provided under this rebate?

(a) It is estimated that around 33% of employers registered for payroll tax will receive a full rebate of their payroll tax, with a further 20% eligible for a partial rebate. This equates to some 6 700 small businesses being eligible for this payroll tax rebate.
(b) The estimated cost of the payroll tax rebate is $100 million in 2010 -11, the year in which the rebates will be paid to eligible businesses.
