In respect of the Water Corporation’s decision not to construct the new Exmouth waste water treatment plant for another 11 years, despite an earlier commitment to commence construction in 2007-08 - (1) Is the minister aware that the current treatment plant is an open-pond system sited in a 500-metre buffer zone that encompasses two caravan parks and that the Department of Conservation and Land Management estimates that 200 000 people visit the prime tourist region annually? (2) Will the government reconsider having the new plant built and the old treatment plant closed by December 2009? (3) If not, why not? Hon ADELE FARINA
