(1)-(2) The predicament we are currently facing with the potential closure of around 1000 kilometres of regional grain rail lines and the resulting transfer of significant freight volumes onto our regional roads is the result of inadequate protection provisions in the previous Coalition Government's privatisation of rail freight. The State, the Grains Industry and regional communities now have to find an acceptable solution with few influencing tools at our disposal.
