NATIONAL BROADBAND NETWORK — FEDERAL LIBERAL PARTY’S PLAN
I have a supplementary question. Given that the minister has indicated a lack of interest in broadband and given the Liberal Party’s 1950s approach to broadband in Australia, does this government have any policy whatsoever about expanding Western Australia’s digital economy? Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : Member for Vasse, I formally call you for the first time. Mr M.P. Whitely interjected. The SPEAKER : Member for Bassendean, I call you formally for the first time. Mr W.R. MARMION

Mr Speaker, I did not hear the question. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : I do not want to hear any comments from anybody in this place except from the member for Forrestfield. With great respect, member for Forrestfield, I would like you to ask your supplementary question again. Mr A.J. WADDELL : Given the little interest that this government has demonstrated in broadband, and given the 1950s attitude demonstrated by the Abbott opposition towards broadband, does this government have any policy whatsoever to expand the Western Australian digital economy? Mr W.R. MARMION : We do have a strong interest in broadbanding and we will consider supporting any policy that the commonwealth brings to us.
