Emergency service volunteers—Post-traumatic stress disorder—Presumptive
protections
113. Hon Martin Aldridge to the minister representing
the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to
presumptive PTSD protections afforded in recent years to employed paramedics, firefighters
and communication centre operators.
(1)
Is the state government committed to extending presumptive protections to the
more than 30,000 emergency service volunteers, including ambulance officers?
(2)
If no to (1), why not?
(3)
Has the minister been briefed on the inequity that exists between emergency
service workers on the basis of whether they are paid or they volunteer?
(4)
Noting the significant improvements that the minister achieved for police as
their minister, is he committed to working in a similar way to deliver better
protections and services to emergency service volunteers and employees alike?
