I thank the member for some notice of this question. I
followed his question closely as he was asking it. I just want to confirm that
this was the one that he originally gave notice of back on 23 May.
Hon Ken Travers : Yes, before the break.
Hon SIMON O'BRIEN : The then Treasurer, who responded
at the time, has asked me to convey the following —
I thank the member for some notice of this question. Firstly,
the member is again requested to put questions requesting large volumes of
information on notice so that there is adequate time to prepare and check
answers.
(1)–(2) The
total amount planned to be spent in the region is derived from a report
generated by the Department of Treasury. Prior to the media release being
issued, the Treasurer and his office are provided with the amounts for regions
at their request. This is a normal process during the development of a budget.
(3) It was on the
basis of the advice by the Department of Treasury on the total amount planned
to be spent in the region.
