In reference to advice I received from the Minister and the Department for Transport in August 2011, that construction of the Bassendean Principal Shared Path (PSP) would begin in October and the that the expected completion date was March 2012, I ask:
(a) can the Minster provide the reason for the lack of progress on this project;
(b) can the Minster outline what stage the project is at; and
(c) can the Minister confirm when the Bassendean Principal Shared Pathway will be finished?

Main Roads Western Australia advises:
(a) Pre-construction activities to facilitate delivery of the works took longer than originally anticipated which delayed actual path construction commencement. For example, the discovery of a conflicting disused sewer main which needed to be maintained necessitated a redesign of a section of the path.
(b) Work has commenced.
(c) It is anticipated that the PSP will be completed by the end of May 2012.
