ENVIRONMENTAL, HERITAGE
AND CULTURAL RECOVERY GRANTS
1267. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the minister's
media statement of 18 September 2023 titled ''Kimberley environmental,
heritage and cultural flood recovery grants now available''.
(1) What is the total funding pool
available for this new grant program?
(2) Was a similar
program made available following cyclone Seroja; and, if so, please provide
detail of the value of grants that were made
available to cyclone Seroja impacted community groups and non-government organisations under this scheme?
(3) What funding,
if any, has been provided through the disaster recovery funding arrangements to
repair visitor access to the Hamelin Pool
stromatolites, a significant environmental area damaged in cyclone Seroja over two years ago?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The total funding for this
program is $4 million.
(2) This program
has been developed specifically for ex–tropical cyclone Ellie following
consultation with the impacted community.
(3) The Hamelin
Pool boardwalk is a Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions
asset. Questions regarding the Hamelin Pool boardwalk should be directed to the
Minister for Environment.
