WORKSAFE — SAFETY AND HEALTH
REPRESENTATIVES
360. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the WorkSafe division within the Department of
Commerce for the reporting period 2012–13.
(1) How many
notifications of election and registration of safety and health representatives
were made?
(2) How many
elected safety and health representatives attended occupational safety and
health representatives training?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) During the
period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013, WorkSafe processed 5 140 notifications of
safety and health representatives.
(2) The conduct
of safety and health representative training is undertaken by registered
training organisations external to WorkSafe. Those organisations provide details
of the number of course attendees to WorkSafe by the end of August each year,
from which a report is prepared for the Commission for Occupational Safety and
Health. That report is not generally available until late October.
