AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
(1) It was on 21 October 2015.
(2) Two
complaints were lodged with Main Roads customer information centre on 21
October 2015—one in the morning and another late in the afternoon.
(3) The asbestos
material was coned off in the afternoon of 21 October and was then collected
and removed by a licensed asbestos removal contractor at 8.30 am on 22 October.
(4) The method of
collection is called an ''emu pick''. This involves the
collection crew picking up all visible pieces of asbestos by hand as per
approved safety guidelines. The area where the asbestos is found is then raked
and any possibly contaminated soil is bagged and removed from site.
(5) All
contaminated waste and asbestos pieces were disposed of at Waste Stream
Management Pty Ltd's facility in Kwinana.
