❓ Hon. Kate Doust questions the WA Police Minister about a significant increase in energy, water, and rates costs reported in the 2010 Annual Report, inquiring whether these increases were factored into the budget and what savings will be made to accommodate them. The Minister responds that the increase was partially offset by general cost escalation funding and that WA Police is actively engaged in initiatives to reduce water and energy use.

WA POLICE — ENERGY, WATER AND RATES COSTS
I refer to the “Western Australia Police Annual Report 2010”, page 79, which notes that police energy, water and rates increased from $6.658 million in 2009 to $7.999 million in 2010. Were these increases factored into the budget; and, if not, what other budget savings will need to be made to accommodate these additional charges? Hon PETER COLLIER
