GOVERNMENT REGIONAL
OFFICERS' HOUSING — TEACHER ACCOMMODATION — MUNGLINUP
161. Hon STEVE MARTIN to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
I refer to the Government Regional
Officers' Housing program and the fight since 2018 by Munglinup
community representatives to build a new home for teachers at their local
school, which after years of delays and a promise to deliver in 2023 was then
scrapped.
(1) Will the minister commit to
providing new teacher accommodation in Munglinup?
(2) If yes to (1), when can the
community expect this to be delivered?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) Will the minister
set aside some time to meet personally with Munglinup community representatives
over this issue?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Housing.
(1)–(4) The Department of Education previously advised
that the primary school had a total of eight students across all school
years. The existing property in Munglinup sat vacant for 18 months between
November 2021 until April 2023, and is now occupied
by an acting member of staff. The GROH program regularly reviews its
construction projects with client agencies to ensure they are aligned to need;
however, GROH demand is determined by the client agency and not the Department
of Communities.
