POLICE — HELICOPTER FUNDING
Can the minister advise how the purchase price of $24 million for the police helicopter will be funded and, in particular — (a) if funded by asset or land sales, please detail what assets and/or land have been identified for sale; and (b) will the proceeds of the sales fund capital costs or is it anticipated that it will cover recurrent costs; and, if so, will the proceeds cover the costs in part or in whole? On behalf of the Minister for Police I provide the following response — (a) The assets that have been identified for sale to fund the $24 million for the police helicopter are the Canning Vale vacant land; Onslow vacant land; ex Innaloo police station; Monck Lane, Albany; ex Brunswick Junction police station; Newman vacant land; ex North Perth police station; ex Leederville police station; Albany vacant land; Leonora old OIC quarters; Lincoln Street, Highgate—subdivide vacant land; Karratha District Office vacant land, Busselton police station/courthouse; and traffic headquarters—the old Perth Girl’s School. (b) The proceeds of the sales will fund capital costs only.
