I have a supplementary question. Are there any practical impediments to the Government progressing that legislation in this Parliament? Dr G.I. GALLOP

AnswerView source ↗

There is much legislation consistent with the philosophy and principles of my party that the Government would like to get through the Parliament in this term, but will not get through. I say to the Opposition that the Labor Party has been in the business of political reform in Australia for a century, and we are patient about these matters. Sometimes, all of a Government’s objectives cannot be achieved in the timetable it desires.
