I refer to the answers given to questions 1462 and 1508 and the contract of employment between Dr Denzil McCotter and the Metropolitan Health Service Board dated 28 September 2000. In particular, I refer to the clauses relating to the restriction on compensation for early termination. Why was one year’s full salary of $152 286.04 paid to the officer when the officer voluntarily resigned from her position and, as a consequence, the employing authority did not terminate her contract? Hon SUE ELLERY

I thank the member for some notice of this question. Dr McCotter’s contract was terminated by the employer. As a consequence, she was entitled to one year’s salary plus 12 weeks pay in lieu of notice.
