The School Education Act 1999 endorsed the validity of community kindergartens as an acceptable alternative option for the kindergarten year and gave community kindergartens the responsibility for enrolling kindergarten children. (1) Why then has Woodlands Primary School assumed the responsibility for kindergarten enrolments in 2006, when there is a community kindergarten in Woodlands - Teakwood Community Kindergarten - and there is no kindergarten at Woodlands Primary School? (2) Does the Department of Education plan to place a kindergarten classroom at Woodlands Primary School for the 2006 school year? (3) If so, at what cost, and when? (4) Is it the government’s intention to replace all community kindergartens over time and co-locate them at schools? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH
