I thank the member for the question. I am pleased to report that 61 applications have been received in response to the call for engineering evaluation initiatives. Applications are being assessed by the engineering evaluation steering committee. I was pleased to note the spread of applications; they came from Morawa in the north to Esperance in the east and from Hyden, Beacon, and towns in coastal areas. There is a lot of interest in these engineering initiatives. Engineering needs to be part of our solution. I am delighted that we have received many applications, which are being evaluated. The successful applicants will be notified in July of the outcome. I was also pleased recently to be in Collie where I opened a new ground water pumping trial. I thank the member for Collie for keeping me informed on its progress. More engineering initiatives - more drainage, more pumping and more syphoning - will be required. I am very pleased that the Commonwealth will recognise our engineering evaluation initiative. I am therefore urging my department to assess the 61 applications very quickly to achieve outcomes quickly. I look forward to successfully working with the federal Government to see some of these initiatives in place and to see some real results on the ground.
