I have a supplementary question. If those figures are correct, does the Premier consider that the health care system is in crisis, as he did before the 2001 election? Dr G.I. GALLOP

AnswerView source ↗

As the Minister for Health indicated last week, when independent observers examined the health system of Western Australia, they rated it the number one health care system in the nation. The minister then backed that up with the figures on the number of people going through our system who are being treated by the system. In any health system in any part of the world there will be pressures. However, there is no doubt that when Western Australia is examined by independent observers they see the money going in - this is a commitment by our government - and they see the strategy for the future of health care in Western Australia.
