The Western Australia Police Service advise that the questions asked by the Member cannot be addressed at an output level due to the method by which the FTEs are apportioned between outputs.
The FTEs are apportioned using regular surveys that employees (sworn police officers, Aboriginal Police Liaison Officers, unsworn officers and wages employees) perform to assess operational hours applied to each output.
The Police Service in March 2002 estimated an Approved Average Staffing Level of 6068 FTE for the 2002/03 financial year. The estimated actual usage for 2002/03 was determined in February 2003 as 5959 FTE. This difference of 109 FTE was apportioned between the 5 outputs.
