In March 2009, the Minister department advised that the Hawthorn Interim Intermediate Care Unit will cease operation by 30 November 2009 and that the future non-clinical use of Hawthorn House by the Mental Health Services would be conveyed to the local Council and community, and I ask:
(a) what is the future non-clinical use of Hawthorn House from 30 November 2009;
(b) what staffing changes will occur at Hawthorn House as a result of any changes; and
(c) how many times and on what dates has the Hawthorn House Community Advisory Committee met and the local member of Parliament advised of updates since the election of the Barnett Government?

(a) A decision has not as yet been made.
(b) No clinical work will take place on the premises after 30 November 2009. All residents will have been discharged either to supported accommodation or their family homes. Clinical Services will be provided by hospital based and community services from North Metropolitan Area Mental Health Services. A HR plan is in place to manage staff movements.
(c) Dates of the Hawthorn House Advisory Committee meetings from just prior to its opening were 24 November 2006, 6 December 2006, 11 February 2007, 13 April 2007, 15 June 2007, 12 October 2007 and 9 November 2007.
The Hawthorn House Advisory Committee last met with minutes formally documented on 9 November 2007. Two further meetings of the Community Advisory Committee were set - 15 and 28 February 2008. A quorum was not attained at both. It was agreed at the meeting of 28 February there was no quorum as there were no community concerns and the Advisory Committee had little to discuss. It was agreed the Committee could meet on an 'as needs' basis if any issue required its attention.
The Community Advisory Committee was informed on 4 June 2009 of minor alterations to the admission policy of Hawthorn House (some residents being admitted from the community rather than hospital).
The local Member of Parliament, Mr John Hyde MLA, has not been provided with updates since the election of the Barnett Government, as there were no clinical issues that impacted on the neighbourhood. Mr Hyde was invited to the Hawthorn House Fete in December 2008, however he was unable to attend.
