POLICE — G2G
PASS DATA
936. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the revelation that data
collected through the G2G system will be retained by Western Australia Police
Force for 25 years before being transferred to the State Records Office to be
stored indefinitely.
(1) Why was the
government not explicitly clear with the WA public about their obligations
under the State Records Act 2000 to retain G2G data?
(2) When did the
Minister for Police become aware of the obligation to retain G2G data?
(3) Why has the government not sought a solution to
this obligation, as it did with SafeWA data, in the form of the Protection of Information (Entry Registration
Information Relating to COVID-19 and Other Infectious Diseases) Bill
2021?
