WA Rent Relief Program
684. Mr Basil Zempilas to
the Premier:
I have a
supplementary question. Why will the Premier not provide any certainty about
the extension of the rent relief program beyond 31 December?

I find it unusual
that those opposite should all of a sudden be thinking about renters, because
when we brought our rental and tenancy reforms into this place, who opposed
them? Who actually turned their back on renters at that particular point in

Mr Lachlan Hunter interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Central Wheatbelt!
Mr Roger Cook: It was those opposite who did their

Ms Sandra Brewer interjected.
The Speaker: Sorry, Premier. Member for Cottesloe, I

of the biggest champions of medium and high housing density to make sure that
people could have an affordable home, yet here she is now joining those
opposite. She is opposed to planning reform and rental tenancy reform, and,
quite frankly, she is opposed to every housing development that will see
increased supply in our community.
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members!
Mr Roger Cook: How is it that she has the temerity and
the gall to come into this place and say all of a sudden that she is concerned
about housing affordability and availability?
