The Department of Health currently has draft ‘Guidelines for the Use of Recycled Water in Western Australia’ and ‘Recycled Water - Groundwater Recharge Guidelines’. The Groundwater Recharge Guidelines contain an indicative list of chemicals of concern to be tested for prior to Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) projects being implemented involving wastewater reuse, and I ask –

(2) Treatment requirements are detailed in the draft Recycled Water Groundwater Recharge Guidelines. Treatment requirements for MAR of recycled water for irrigation purposes are similar. (3) Treatment requirements are detailed in the draft Guidelines for the Use of Recycled Water in Western Australia and are dependant upon the type of irrigation (i.e. horticultural, public open space, agricultural, industrial, urban) and whether public access can be controlled.
