The Minister Replied:
(1) The Commonwealth chose to commission its own study which was concluded in early August 2000. The study report has not been released by the Commonwealth.
(2) The State has already undertaken two studies that considered the Tidal Energy Australia (TEA) proposal in some depth - firstly through the Regional Power Procurement Process for the West Kimberley and subsequently through the comparison undertaken by the Ministerial Advisory Committee between the TEA "best offer" proposal and the LNG option. As such, the State continues to believe that the TEA proposal has been adequately researched and that it was not necessary to undertake yet another study to confirm the findings of the first two. The State did offer to cooperate with the Commonwealth in its study by offering relevant information, but the Commonwealth did not take up this offer.
