COLLIER
PARK HOSTEL
811. Mr M. McGOWAN to the
Minister for Seniors and Volunteering:
I ask a supplementary question. Has the minister, as also the
Minister for Local Government, made an appeal to the City of South Perth to
leave the residents in this hostel; and, if he has not, what direct support
will the minister provide to those aged residents, who can potentially lose
their home?

The City of South Perth has informed me that no-one will be
moved for six months, and that it is making sure that every resident is taken
care of as it goes through this process. The City of South Perth has been
working with the member for South Perth —
Mr M. McGowan :
Have you made a personal appeal?
Mr A.J. SIMPSON : I
have talked to the City of South Perth, through my department, and we are
making sure that everyone will be taken care of. The City of South Perth has
given me that assurance. But now that the Leader of the Opposition has raised
this issue, I will take a bit more of a keen interest in making sure that
everyone has a place to go to and that no-one is thrown out onto the street.
That is most important.
