CITY OF MELVILLE —
INQUIRY
1271. Hon SIMON O'BRIEN to the Leader of the House
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the draft report of the
Department of Local Government's authorised inquiry into the City of
Melville.
(1) Has the draft
report been referred to the Solicitor-General for review; and, if so, on what
date and by whom?
The PRESIDENT :
Leader of the House —
Hon SIMON O'BRIEN :
I barely got started.
The PRESIDENT :
I did not realise it was a multipart-er, member.
Hon SIMON O'BRIEN :
I am just cranking up, Madam President. Wait until I get to part (3)!
Hon Peter Collier interjected.
Hon SIMON O'BRIEN : Order,
please! My question continues —
(2) What was
requested of the Solicitor-General in connection with this draft report,
including a date for response?
(3) Has the
Solicitor-General provided advice, including any interim or preliminary advice,
on this matter; and, if so, on what date, to whom and by what means—for
example, phone, email et cetera?

AnswerView source ↗

(1)–(3) No,
the draft report has not been referred to the Solicitor-General for advice. All
further questions regarding this matter should be directed to the Minister for
Local Government.
Hon Simon O'Brien :
Yesterday, you told me it was with the Solicitor-General.
Hon Stephen
Dawson : I think it was the State Solicitor he said.
Hon SUE ELLERY : Just check
the answer. If it is wrong, I will seek to get further information, but I think
it is different.
The PRESIDENT : I give the
call to Hon Dr Steve Thomas now that we have had that little bit of
clarification.
