MAGISTRATES — SOUTH WEST REGION
1384. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the
Attorney General:
(1) How many
magistrates serviced each of the following south west courthouses in 2012 and
currently in Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Collie and Manjimup?
(2) How many
cases have been delayed at each courthouse in 2015 due to the unavailability of
a magistrate?
(3) Does the Attorney General believe there is a shortage of
magistrates in the south west?
(4) If yes to
(3), what action is the Attorney General taking to address the shortage, when
will the action be taken and how much money has been set aside to deal with the
shortage?

question.
(1) Dealing
with each of the locations in turn and number of magistrates in 2012 and 2015:
Albany, one and one; and Bunbury, three and three—although an
announcement on two permanent appointments to the Bunbury Court will be made
shortly. Busselton, Collie and Manjimup are circuit courts of Bunbury.
