The Minister for Energy has been provided with the following response.
(1) Currently proportions of Coal and Natural Gas fuel used for electricity generation can be provided for the State as a whole only. The proportions for 2006-2007 are;
· Coal - estimated 35 per cent
· Natural Gas - estimated 59 per cent
Renewable electricity generation on the SWIS can be provided and is approximately 5.4 per cent for 2006-2007.
(2) Office of Energy estimates for Coal and Natural Gas fuel used for electricity generation are based on ABARE data. The Office of Energy estimate for renewable electricity generation is based on industry data.
(3) As stated in question 1, currently the proportion of Natural Gas fuel used for electricity generation can be provided for the State as a whole only. The proportion for 2006-2007 is estimated to be 59 per cent.
Renewable electricity generation outside SWIS can be provided and is approximately 2 per cent for 2006-2007.
(4) The Office of Energy estimate for Natural Gas fuel used for electricity generation is based on ABARE data. The Office of Energy estimate for renewable electricity generation is based on industry data.
(5) The IMO has certified the electricity generation capacity of 4115 MW on the SWIS Wholesale Electricity Market for the period October 2007 to September 2008.

(6) In August 2006 the estimated total electricity generation capacity outside the SWIS was approximately 1423 MW. This includes only private power stations that are over 10MW or supply power to Horizon Power.
(Source: Office of Energy)
(7) The sent out electricity generation on the SWIS was approximately 15 769 GWh in 2006?2007.
(Source: Independent Market Operator)
(8) The only available data has been obtained from Horizon Power concerning their sent out electricity generation outside the SWIS. 792 GWh of power was sent out on the NWIS and Horizon's non-interconnected network in 2006-2007.
