Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : Order! Mr D.F. BARRON-SULLIVAN : I have that effect on them, Mr Speaker! I refer to Environmental Protection Authority bulletin 1152 regarding the Red Hill quarry, which concluded, in part, that the southern edge of the west pit is outside the approved footprint area. (1) What action has the minister taken, or will she take, in relation to this serious noncompliance with ministerial conditions? (2) Will the minister table a copy of her letter requesting the section 46 assessment on Red Hill quarry initiated on 18 February 2004? (3) Prior to initiating the section 46 assessment, precisely what implementation conditions did the minister consider should be changed? (4) When does the minister expect to give approval to the findings and recommendations of EPA bulletin 1152? Dr J.M. EDWARDS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) In my section 46 request to the EPA in relation to this matter I sought advice on the scope and definition of the quarry operations. The EPA bulletin addresses the question of the location of the quarry operations in some detail, as I am sure the member is aware. I am currently considering the EPA’s report and recommendations as well as submissions from a number of interested parties, and expect to finalise the determination shortly. (2) Yes, I am happy to table that letter at the conclusion of my response. (3) The matters upon which I sought the EPA’s advice are outlined very clearly in that letter, which the member will see in just a minute. (4) I expect to finalise my recommendation is very shortly. [See paper 1037.]
