(1) When did the former Director General of the Department of Housing and Works, Mr Joyce, give notice of his retirement? (2) What are the steps in the process through which the position of director general will be filled, what progress has been made, and when will the position be substantively filled? I am advised - (1) Mr Joyce provided notice of his resignation to the Governor and the Minister for Public Sector Management by letter dated 23 September 2004. Mr Joyce’s resignation took effect on the close of business on 28 January 2005. (2) The process for recruitment for the CEO position is in accordance with section 45 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994. Job documentation is currently being finalised. Once completed, the Commissioner for Public Sector Standards will be requested to undertake the selection process. (3) Composition of the panel is the responsibility of the commissioner. In accordance with section 45 of the act, appointment is made by the Governor in Executive Council.
