Response time
36 days
In terms of the Department of Local Government and Regional Development please be advised as follows:
Every effort is made to pay creditors within 30 days, however, there are circumstances under which this is not possible. Examples, which are reflected in the figures provided below, are:
Note 1 - Late billing
Some creditors do not submit invoices for more than 30 days after the goods or services are supplied. The date recorded in the finance system is the date of the invoice (not the date the invoice is received) and, therefore, such invoices will appear as outstanding for more than 30 days even if they are paid on the day they are received.
Note 2 - Accounts in dispute
Accounts are not approved for payment until any dispute is resolved.
Note 3 - Grant payments
Grant payments are not made until the Department is satisfied that any required milestones have been met. This can cause delays in payment.
(a) $803,985.79 and 104 creditors (outstanding less than or equal to thirty days as at 30 June 2007).
(b) $104,354.54 and 28 creditors (refer to Note 1- outstanding more than thirty days but less than or equal to sixty days as at 30 June 2007).
(c) $0 and nil creditors (outstanding more than sixty days but less than or equal to ninety days as at 30 June 2007).
(d) $12,725.40 and 2 creditors (refer to Notes 2 and 3 - outstanding more than ninety days but less than or equal to one hundred and twenty days as at 30 June 2007).

Grant payments
Grant payments are not made until the Department is satisfied that any required milestones have been met. This can cause delays in payment.
