DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITIES
— CONTACT PROCEDURES —COMMISSIONER FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG
PEOPLE
188. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the minister's
response to question 8 of the questions prior to the 2019 Department of
Communities' annual report hearing, which detailed the considerations
that a child protection worker must take in respect of contact with an
incarcerated parent.
(1) Has the
Commissioner for Children and Young People been consulted about these contact
procedures relating to incarcerated parents or family members?
(2) If yes, when did this take
place?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The
guidelines for contact visits are outlined in the ''Casework Practice
Manual''. The Commissioner for Children and Young People was not
consulted on the current procedures for contact with an incarcerated parent.
(2) Not
applicable.
