The Department of Mines and Petroleum advises:
(a)-(b)
The Exploration Incentive Scheme consists of a number of programs of which only the Government Industry Co-funded Exploration Drilling program offers financial support to explorers in the form of a refund of up to 50 per cent of direct drilling costs.
Projects offered co-funding are selected through a highly competitive, audited process and receive the refund after the completion of the drilling project and after submission of the results of the project. These results are released publicly much earlier than under the provisions of the
Mining Act 1978
and help reduce the risk associated with exploration by increasing the knowledge of geology in underexplored areas of Western Australia.
